Enchanting Danube: Does the Beatrice go through locks at night?

I've read quite a bit about people being awakened by bumping and banging noises when their ship was going through a number of locks at night on a river cruise. We're taking our first river cruise in 17 days on th River Beatrice. This raises some concerns about sleeping well.

1. How many locks are there from Budapest to Passau for the Enchanted Danube River Beatrice cruise?

2. Does the ship go through locks at night? And if so, how many/night?

3. Is it noisy during lock transits?

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your post. Below is a message from our Guest Relations team regarding you question.

While sections of the rivers in Europe can have many locks, the section of the Danube between Budapest and Passau has only 12 locks. There is one set of locks between Budapest and Vienna, and the nights when the ship will be going through the locks is not significant due in part to our very experienced nautical team which is able to navigate deftly through them. That, said guests who are very light sleepers may be aware of some noise or vibrations from the ships as it maneuvers into place. The amount of noise will also depend on your stateroom location, as the engine is located in the stern and the thrusters in the bow. As a personal note, I took this cruise myself last year with a cabin in the stern, and while I consider myself to be a very light sleeper, I slept through every single lock.

Best,

Guest Relations Team

Thanks very much. That's exactly the info I asked for.

Looks like it will not be a "bumpy night" after all (as Bette Davis said in "All about Eve").
