There you will check in, drop off your bags, and, if you wish, go out and explore the city on your own. Your Uniworld local host can offer suggestions for your leisure time. Athens, the capital of Greece, boasts a plethora of excellent museums and galleries, historical cobbled streets, tavernas and cafes, and colorful shops and street vendors, all on your doorstep.

In the evening, you will be transferred to a local home to experience some famous Greek hospitality—locally known as philoxenia—whilst dining on traditional dishes and learning of life in Athens from your wonderful host.

Day 3: Athens
FEATURED EXCURSION: Taste of Greece Walking Tour
Experience Athens today through its tastes, sounds, and sites on a guided walking tour of the city center and its markets. The day starts close to Syntagma square, where you will have the opportunity to try fragrant Greek coffee, traditionally brewed on hovoli—heated sand. Stop at a favorite historical bakery to taste the famous Greek spanakopita before continuing on to the central market area of Athens. Try local tidbits, such as olives, fragrant cheeses, and cured meats at various vendors selling their produce.

Greek cuisine is enriched with wonderfully aromatic herbs and spices, and we discover these at little local shops located close to Monastiraki square. Monastiraki, home to the lively flea market, is full of colorful shops selling local crafts and souvenirs. Take a well-deserved break and stop to savor souvlaki—tender marinated meat on skewers with various accompaniments.

Afterwards our stroll takes us to Thission, a great vantage point in historical Athens, boasting stunning views of the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, and the impeccable temple of Hephaestus. Try a pick me up of a traditional Greek Mountain tea—or, if you prefer, tsipouro, a fiery Greek spirit. Then opt to either stay in the center for some time at leisure or return to the hotel for a lovely afternoon Greek siesta!

Day 1: Prague
Once you have cleared customs at Václav Havel Airport Prague, you’ll be greeted by a Uniworld representative who will help you check into the hotel. You can choose to rest or go out and explore the city. Your local host will be happy to offer additional suggestions.

Day 2: Prague
FEATURED EXCURSION: Prague Old Town & Castle District
After breakfast, begin a magical tour of the city of Prague. Prague enjoyed a golden age in the 14th century, under the rule of Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, and many of the buildings in the UNESCO-designated city core date to that era.

Prague Castle dates back even earlier. Construction on the oldest parts of the complex began in the 9th century. A drive across the Vltava River (you might know the Vltava as the Moldau, the namesake of the beautiful tone poem by beloved Czech composer Bedřich Smetana) brings you to the sprawling complex of towers, halls, cathedrals, courtyards, and houses, where kings, emperors, and presidents have had their offices for almost a millennium. Step down from the motorcoach and walk inside the castle's protective walls, taking in the Gothic structure of St. Vitus Cathedral, which took 600 years to build, and Vladislav Hall, whose intricate stone-vaulting system was one of the most advanced engineering feats of the late Middle Ages.

After visiting St. Vitus Cathedral and the Old Royal Palace, you can choose between re-boarding the motorcoach for a ride back to the hotel or continuing your guided walk through the picturesque Lesser Quarter to Charles Bridge, one of the city's most famous landmarks. The walking tour will end in Old Town Square, which is surrounded by majestic buildings, including the Church of Our Lady before Týn and Prague's City Hall, which boasts a famous medieval astronomical clock.

MASTERPIECE COLLECTION*: Terezín & Concentration Camp
Terezín is a fortress built by the Enlightenment ruler Josef II. Although the building, named for his mother Maria Theresa, was supposed to be used for defense, it became infamous first as a prison and later, during World War II, as a Jewish ghetto and concentration camp. You will also visit the Terezín Monument dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust and pay tribute to people's indefatigable bravery and the will to live.

Day 3: Prague
Use the morning to do any last-minute shopping or go for one last stroll through this beautiful capital. After lunch, it’s time for your exciting Uniworld river cruise to begin!
