This was our first river cruise 8 days Vienna to Nuremberg and it was truly a remarkable way to travel. Uniworld has certainly perfected the art of river cruising by choosing unique and entertaining destinations, first class service and a beautiful vessel. We sailed on the River Countess and were amazed the entire ship was well-maintained and always clean. The entire staff without exception was outstanding and made each guest feel special. Our cruise manager, Christine, had an amazing store of knowledge about every port and all the small towns, locks and places of interest we sailed past. Her enthusiasm, ... Read More...

Loved it,

When I hear the name Uniworld my mind instantly drifts to the fond memories of my journey aboard the River Queen. We have been on the large con huge co cruise ships making us feel like just a passenger, but when we decided to take a river cruise for our honeymoon we didn't feel like just a passenger we felt like part of a family. The ship was well designed and had a great use of space. When we entered to the nice cozy atrium we were greeted by the kind crew who helped take our bags ... Read More...

Castles on the Rhine,

Just finished the Sept. 2, 2012 cruise. This was a fantastic experience. All crew and staff went above and beyond to insure a perfect experience and of course the tours were great. Cannot say enough to discribe the history and scenery of this cruise!

The extra care and attention to detail was extraordinary,

The Danube river cruise on the River Beatrice from Budapest to Passau with the Prague extension was fantastic from the time we arrived until we departed. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite. The extra care and attention to detail was extraordinary. Our cruise director Marcus was as hardworking as they come and had us in stitches most of the time with his sense of humour. We were fortunate to have excellent weather for touring. Uniworld offered a hot towel and drink when we came back to the ship and the captain was there welcoming us as ... Read More...

The best vacation my wife and I have ever experienced.,

River Empress, Amsterdam to Budapest in August, 2012.
The best vacation my wife and I have ever experienced. Everything about the cruise was first rate. The food, the service, the attitude of the entire ship's staff was outstanding. I would highly recommend this cruise to anyone. From the time we were met at the Amsterdam airport until the time we were bussed to the Budapest airport, everything was outstanding. Tony, our tour director, Carylene, our hotel director, Roberto, our dining room director and most of all our captain - who got us through some pretty ... Read More...

Perfect cruise for our anniversary,

My husband & I chose a Uniworld cruise to Burgundy & Provence (12-19 Aug) for our 10th wedding anniversary - we couldn't have made a better choice! We have never been on any cruise before and this first experience surpassed our expectations. River Royale is beautiful, the cruise was smooth & relaxing, the food and wine served onboard was good, and we enjoyed the itinerary, in particular, Lyon, Beaune, Avignon, Les Baux and the truffle farm. Favorite experiences include sitting on the ship deck after dinner while the ship was sailing from Lyon to Tournon, with the wind in our ... Read More...

This is our second adventure on the waterways traveled by Uniworld. They have something small and brilliant underway. They are creating possibly the very best for way for those of us that crave an authentic and personal way to see the world but are bound by constraints, most notable time. They have identified the things you must see, the impossibly charming villages, the notable historic sites, and everything in between. It's then up to you how you will shape your experience; group tour, on foot, on bike or a combination of all! The tenor of these trips ... Read More...

Uniworld River Queen Cruise - European Jewels (August 6-20, 2012),

My wife and I would like to acknowledge the excellent service received on our recent European Jewels river cruise with Uniworld. This was our first ever cruise, and I'm not so sure the Uniworld River Queen set the bar to the point we will never be able to recreate the environment again on any future cruise. The entire crew under Captain Ferdy's direction (along with "Siggy" and Lawrence) made us feel like we were part of the family, with Hildagard our Cruise Manager providing an exceptional iterary each and ever day. Martin's resturant and lounge staff were on point (especially ... Read More...

Kudos to Kevin Lin,

My husband and I recently returned from an 18 day trip to China and must say what an awesome experience it was. Reading about and seeing pictures in history books cannot do justice to the places and things we saw! Our tour manager was Kevin Lin and he was by far the best tour guide we have ever had! He got our group to where we needed to be (no easy task!) with minimal effort. He helped us out of a situation that could have been disastrous and for that we truly appreciate all that he did for us! I ... Read More...

Burgundy and Provence - Rhone River,

This was my first time on a river cruise and after this wonderful experience, I don't think I can go back to any ocean cruising. The staff and service was friendly, intimate and excellent. They started to know us by sight after the first day. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I love the more intimate experience provided by the max. 25 group of local tours, the audio boxes which allowed you to listen to the tour guide while wandering off to take pictures, and the food which featured local specialities. I found the food on board to be better than ... Read More...

Neville & Cathy,

This review is primarily for antipodeans considering a northern hemisphere cruise.

NB: Our cruise was down river from Vienna - Istanbul (River Duchess).

Given the travel investment involved we felt a 15 day cruise was not enough to justify the time and cost so chose to break the journey north with a two day/night stopover in Dubai. Additionally we included the Prague pre-cruise extension and front loaded this with a further night in the same hotel. This gave us a suitable break (Dubai - Prague only 4.5 hours) and provided two buffer periods should there be any unexpected ... Read More...

The Perfect First Experience,

On July 15th, 2012 I began the most amazing experience of my life. When I stepped onto the breath taking River Beatrice behind by Grandmother, I realized that at age 17 I was easily one of the youngest passengers aboard. Not only that, but I had never traveled internationally, and I was about to be in three foreign countries over the course of a week. Of course I was excited, but there were quite a few butterflies as well!

As I learned later, there was no reason to be nervous, because I immediately became one of a ... Read More...

Liz P,

I can’t tell you how wonderful the River Royale Burgundy and Provence cruise was. I don’t know how Uniworld did it but it was even better than last year! The ship was very familiar as the same fabrics and colors were used. Just small things like additional American outlets in the cabins and reworking and separating the computer and coffee areas were big enhancements. The two large round tables with chairs that were in the computer area are GONE. So much less cluttered and easier to maneuver. The counter with computers is at same ... Read More...

Nancy G,

This is the first trip I have taken abroad by myself.....not to worry. A Uniworld rep was at the airport to meet our scheduled transfer group when we landed. Everything went as planned. We met our lovely Cruise Manager, Mirela, at the hotel "meet and greet" session that evening. She was always cheerful, helpful and within easy accessibility. Our hotel, Crowne Plaza, was nice and served a lovely buffet breakfast each morning. On the 4th day we made our coach departure for the Istanbul airport without a hitch, and flew to Bucharest. All of our tours ... Read More...

Uniworld & River Royale Really Get It!,

This cruise was our first river cruise, and we rate it a "5+ star" in all major categories. Even better than most of the "ocean" cruises we have taken. The staff were extremely friendly, courteous and always there to help. Our cruise director Gabrielle was totally awesome and ought to be on stage (in fact I heard at the end of our cruise that this is exactly what she will be doing)!

We were certainly pleased with the luxury and comfort of our cabin, as well as the lounge and dining room. Our room steward, Csaba, was especially wonderful and took ...

We had been to France in the past, but this was our first time to explore the Burgundy & Provence regions. Travelling via the River Royale is certainly the way to go, and we especially enjoyed our four days in Aix-en-Provence on our own prior to boarding in Arles. Our biggest & warmest "thank you" and a bigger Merci, a bientot! to the entire crew!

Imperial Waterways of Russia,

Just returned from a most wonderful adventure on the River Victoria. Although future travelers are warned that the ship is not owned by Uniworld and may not have all the expected amenities, we found her to be almost as wonderful as the fabulous River Beatrice, which we enjoyed on the Danube in 2010.

The ship is fresh and clean. We walked through several other river ships (all apparently made by the same company) when we were double or triple docked, and the Victoria is without doubt the most attractive of all the ships we saw. The ... Read More...

Fantastic Danube Cruise,

I wonder who's in cabin 315 now.

On April 19, 2012 we departed Los Angeles International Airport for Budapest via Heathrow Airport in England. We were excited because this was to be our first river cruise, though we had enjoyed ocean cruising prior to this. My wife Rosalie was having a "big" birthday and always wanted a river cruise and loved a previous trip to Budapest. So naturally, a river cruise from Budapest to Passau on the Danube would be just the thing.

My Internet research indicated that the highest rated Danube river ... Read More...

A terrific cruise!,

I traveled solo on the River Royale through Provence and Burgundy from April 29-May 6, 2012 and couldn't have enjoyed myself more. I am sold on Uniworld and river cruising. I kept a blog during the trip; if you are interested in reading about the shore excursions, meals, and my impressions, go to I also wrote a five-star critique on but it's a bit repetitive with the blog. This was truly a trip to remember.

Castles along the Rhine,

We thoroughly enjoyed the Cruise. The staff was very friendly and they covered a lot of locations. The food was simply marvelous!

Very pleased except for a few items,

We recently returned from Gems of Germany, Belgium & the Netherlands w/2012 Floriade. This being our 2nd cruise with Uniworld, we were generally pleased, especially with the ship's staff and the quality of the food. We just had a few issues:

Our flight arrived at 6:05 AM. We had requested early check-in, but were told when we boarded the ship that our cabin would not be available until 3PM. We were extremely tired, and I wasn't feeling well from the fatigue. After much pleading with the reception staff, they agreed to speak with the ... Read More...

Portugal,Spain & the Douro River Valley,

Just returned from this cruise & tour and we miss everyone onboard already.
Everything was amazing...from the tours to the cruise, staff, food, ship and especially the new friends that we made.
We would highly recommend this trip to anyone especially with the extended 3 days in Lisbon.

Enchanting Danube June 2 2011,

I took my 88-year old mother, Millie, on her first trip to Europe last Spring on the River Beatrice. She had the time of her life. The staff and crew were amazing - they called her "Madame Amelia" which she loved to no end. Our fellow passengers were fascinating, and she made new friends and loved every minute of the trip.

Mom passed away last week, and I can honestly say that this trip was one of the highlights of her life. Thanks to Uniworld and the staff of the River Beatrice for giving her, and me, one of ... Read More...

April was beautiful and the tulips in bloom, had alot of fun. Wonderful service and food. Would take the same trip again just to see the windmills. Nice beautiful room upgraded to category 2 Room 312 was very nice, but expensive. Great big window to look out at the views while getting ready. I wasnt in my room much except to sleep and shower so i would pay less next time and go down a category like category 4 which has a water level view and smaller. Just make sure your room isnt next to an elevator or laundry or ... Read More...

Burgundy & Provence - Voila! Voila!,

Christmas on the Danube,

Having recently returned from another great holiday cruise aboard a Uniworld ship, we are compelled to express our delight and overly met expectations for the second year in a row. We very much appreciate the attention to detail and caring nature of the entire staff. We look forward to more river cruising in the years to come.

Grand Christmas Fantastic,

On the River Countess on December 22, 2009, was a trip of a life time. From the moment we boarded in Nuremberg until we debarked in Budapest it met and exceeded our expectations. While we weren't blessed with snow, it was a fairytale Christmas experience, Christmas eve in Regensburg cathedral, with the choir singing silent night at midnight, brought tears to everyone, a cocktail hour with the Princess brought history to reality, the grand New Years eve gala could not have been recreated by a Hollywood set. It makes it sound like we didn't enjoy the ship and ... Read More...

August cruise,

I was on the River Beatrice in August, 2011. What a wonderful time. I travelled alone but never felt lonely. Everyone was great. Now if Uniworld could only get some single guys to go on my next trip (Leaving April 8 from Brussels) I would be eternally grateful.

S.S. Antoinette,

I was on the 3rd of the River Antoinette's cruises on Castles on the Rhine when I had a bad fall in Strasburg. The staff were magnificent, I was looked after from the time I fell, through the ambulance trip and through the hospital (I didn't speak German). Each day thereafter until I left hospital (5 days later) they rang the hospital to ask how I was going and whether they could help. My husband left my jewellery behind when he hurriedly packed up my things (with the help of a kind steward) and when I realised ... Read More...
