An Amazing Time,

11/5/2014
We had an amazing time on Uniworld’s Venice and the Gems of Northern Italy Cruise. There were so many highlights of this trip I wouldn’t know where to begin. The ship, food, staff and itinerary were amazing. To go in places where there were not the big crowds was such a plus; even in Venice we never felt crowded. The private tour of St. Marks was especially wonderful and small Italian towns such as Bologna and Chioggia made you feel immersed in the Italian way. Shopping with Uniworld’s Chef Daniel at the Rialto (Bridge) fish market was great fun. This ... Read More...

European Jewels - October 2014,

10/23/2014
My husband and I just completed the European Jewels cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. The trip was wonderful. The food and drinks were awesome. The crew was amazing. The daily tours were fun and informative. We will definitely cruise with Uniworld again.

An Unforgettable Holiday,

9/18/2014
We were a little skeptical doing a river cruise six months after our sea cruise. We were really pleasantly surprised that it was nothing like our sea cruise. Uniworld has really done their homework in getting the ratio between time spent on land and on the river just right. The friendly, professional service was experienced by all staff and made for an unforgettable holiday. We have decided to tour the world as far as possible on Uniworlds river cruises and are off to Vietnam in December. Can't wait.

Excellent experience,

9/2/2014
I recently embarked on the Castles of the Rhine river cruise out of Amsterdam and my family and I had an absolutely wonderful experience. The sites and tours were great, but we thought the highlight was the staff aboard the ship. The people were incredibly helpful, professional, and hard working. In particular, Sorin and Nedko were fantastic. Sorin was our server most days and he could not have been better - not only was he professional and knowledgeable about the menu and food options, but he gave us great tips and information about each stop along the Rhine. He was ... Read More...

Excellent Trip,

9/1/2014
Four of us took the S.S. Catherine in May from Avignon to Lyon. The trip was excellent in every way. Miroslav, our waiter, gave exceptional service. Demeter, our head waiter, oversaw our needs, including my need for a low-sodium diet, which he addressed at every meal. The IT professional, Martin, was unfailingly helpful with a number of IT questions. The food was exceptional, the local tours were excellent, the accommodations were superb. We will be coming back for future tours.

Awesome River Cruise,

8/25/2014
S.S. Antoinette in one word: AWESOME.

Our 1st River cruise - and hopefully not our last. The S.S. Antoinette was outstanding, as was the crew and cruise experience overall. Uniworld in my opinion is a first class cruise operator.

On embarkation day, (we actually embarked from Basel Switzerland) we were greeted at the dock when we arrived at approximately noon. (Our departure was scheduled for midnight) Our luggage was immediately gathered, and directions given to us to begin our day onboard ship. After a short 'self' guided walk around the ship, we were encouraged to have lunch on ... Read More...

A Wonderful Experience,

8/17/2014
The river cruise and pre- and post-trips were fantastic! Thereza in Prague, Tony, Sebastian, Richie on the boat, and Romulus in Budapest were wonderful in ensuring that everything exceeded expectations. The bike tour from Melk to Durnstein was a highlight. The packaged lunch was overwhelming, as were all the meals on the boat! I just wish I could get the pumpkin soup recipe!  Thank you for such a wonderful experience. I am already planning our next trip on the Rhine! I hope Tony, Sebastian, and Richie can make it as well!

Enchanting Danube exceeds high expectations,

7/31/2014
I have heard about Uniworld river cruises for years from my parents. I can truly say this cruise more than met my already high expectations. Everything about the trip was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious at every meal and trust me I did not miss one! The crew was delightful and extremely attentive and the tour guides in every city, outstanding. My special thanks to Tony our cruise director, Tilen our ship hotel manager, Teresa in Prague and Romulus in Budapest. I miss them already. I cannot say enough about my experience except ... River Duchess 6-Star Luxery,

7/17/2014
My wife and I just completed our River Duchess Grand European cruise from Amsterdam to Istanbul. The experience was absolutely wonderful with a Captain, Cruise director, and Crew that always attempted to see that our trip was an unforgettable experience. Uniworld outperformed other river cruise boats following this same set of ports. They anticipated river conditions to avoid problems with low water levels and met every request that we made. They even had gentle walker programs for seniors that may have had problems with some of the tour spots. Food and unlimited beverages of all types inclusive with ... Read More...

Grand China and Yantze River Cruise,

7/4/2014
WOW...what an great and awesome experience. Just came back from a 19 day river cruise with Uniworld on Grand China & the Yantze. First, the Tour Manager TAO was FANTASTIC. She made it a seamless journey throughout. All the hotels were 5-star and great (Sofitel, Shangri La Waldorf), the food (both local and on the ship) was very good and different than what we are used to, but great. Some of the excursions included Great Wall, Terra-cotta Warriors, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, smaller cruises, a sampan and a rick shaw...many other excursions as well. We also had ... Castles along the Rhine 2014,

6/23/2014
We were more than pleased and impressed with the accommodations, staff, and food on the S.S. Antoinette. Lovely itinerary. Passengers we met were all friendly and great to spend a week with in close quarters! Always a smile and helpful attitude from all staff, from sailors to reception to chefs to wait staff. Highly professional, informed, and organized cruise director Rik. Beautiful ship, clean, and modern. We were envied by other river cruisers at each port. Uniworld is so much more elegant than all other ships seen. Definitely booking with Uniworld again.

Enchanting Danube 6 stars,

6/7/2014
From pre-cruise Prague to post-cruise Budapest, Uniworld exceeded my expectations. The personnel were exceptional and I have to put special emphasis on Jana in Prague who deserves an award for her personality and her abilities. Mirella and Romulus on the boat and in Budapest also exceeded all expectations. They went out of their way to make our experience 6 star. The food quality was top notch and far superior to large ship cruising. Service was excellent and personal, again exceeding my expectations.

We met some wonderful people and will likely book other Uniworld tour! />

Queen for a Week,

6/4/2014
There used to be a television program called Queen for a Day. Five women competed for prizes, and the winner wore a robe and a crown and was pronounced Queen for the day. Well, I beat them. I felt like queen for a week! I smiled from the minute I was greeted at the ship until I left (well, really, I continued smiling long after I left). My cabin was gorgeous. The wallpaper and curtains were beautiful and all the amenities were wonderful…decanters of various spirits, fruit plate, a stocked refrigerator with all kinds of drinks. The orchids, one of ... Amazing Cruise Director,

5/27/2014
Our first Uniworld cruise was simply amazing. We traveled with Tony Jenkins as our Cruise Director and what a wonderful person and amazing director he was. Our family of four was taken care of by him as if we were his own family! The Tour Guides were so eloquent and informed. It was like being in the best class ever! I didn't want the tours or the lectures to end! We've already signed up for Vietnam & Cambodia tour for 2015! Can't wait.

5/22/2014

Hi Nicole,

We are back from a delightful cruise. We loved the SS Catherine. Our cabin was fine even where it was situated and the decor of the ship delightful. We had a wonderful trip and experience of France which is what we wanted. Our Cruise Director, Adrian, was amazingly knowledgeable and made our cruise special. Thanks for your assistance when we needed it.

We will consider using Uniworld in the future whilst we can still travel.

Ms. Prado,

We returned 2 days ago from one of your trips to China, guided by Hubert.  We were extremely lucky to have him as the guide.  He added immeasurably to our experience with his knowledge of the areas visited, the culture we observed, and the politics he helped us to understand.  He was able to communicate admirably.  This was our first Uniworld trip and Hubert was certainly a good ambassador in promoting future Uniworld adventures.

Excellent Cruise Director,

5/22/2014

I want to emphasize (aside from the survey already submitted) the excellent performance and service of Edward Tong on our 4/24 - 5/8 China trip. He went out of his way on numerous occasions for many of us (securing aisle seats on domestic flights for me and purchasing special items). He was at all times professional, courteous, and thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of our journey. Uniworld is very fortunate in having such a supremely qualified tour manager representing it in China.

An Impressive Experience,

5/22/2014

Dear Ms. Kendall:

We were recently passengers on the SS Antoinette - from Basel to Amsterdam (May 11-19).  In addition to the feedback forms we completed and handed in while on the ship, we were so impressed I wanted to add to what we'd already said.

We have cruised a number of times and are used to the hectic last day of getting suitcases out the door and evacuating the suites early in the morning.  The staff are always very busy, cleaning up and getting ready for the new passengers arriving on the same day.  We get the very ...

This experience was QUITE different!  Although we were asked to be out by 8:30 (not a bad time at all!), we were welcomed to spend the day on board and not rush away.  We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, a lovely morning on the sundeck basking in the unseasonably warm Amsterdam weather, and a lunch before making way to our hotel.  We were amazed not only at this opportunity, but also at the generous excellence of service from the staff that continued seamlessly through this time.  It was fun to see the new passengers arriving, thinking that it was only one short - but action-packed week ago that we were among them!

This added such a lovely ending note to our Uniworld experience.  I hope that you pass along our appreciation to whomever appropriate.

We look forward to our next Uniworld Cruise and although there are many competitors out there, we continue to share how the quality of service we've experienced with Uniworld is exemplary!

All the best,

Lori

Just completed the China experience with friends and amazing new friends.

The trip started the end of April 2014 and the weather was optimal for touring. The tour was well organized and seamless through the expertise of our guide, Mr. Edward Tong. Edward, the best guide I have ever experienced, was knowledgeable, articulate and ever conscious of his groups' needs.

One word: OUTSTANDING!,

As you know, we've sailed Avalon twice and Viking once in the past. Your presentation last year at our Travel, Ports, & Voyages meeting piqued our interest. And, we were clearly not disappointed! This was the trip of a lifetime and we will never forget it. A marvelous voyage. Entire crew, our local guides, especially Varak in Cambodia, were informed and entertaining. But what made the trip so effortlessly informative and full of pleasure was our tour guide, Chantal! She solved any problems with ease and never once showed a ruffled feather. Perfect Adventure for adult children and senior parents!,

10/1/2013
I just wanted to drop you a line. My sister , mother and I just completed our first Uni-world 12 day cruise through Germany.

What a delight. It was perfect for the more active like my sister and I and also for my 80 year old mother, who sometime was content to just sit and watch the action from the boat.

We got to enjoy the historic outings whether she felt up to it or not.

I highly recommend this vacation for Adult children and their parents. Everyone will have a good time, even the mobility challenged. />
The service and friendliness of the staff were incredible. They often would even check on my mother when I was not on board.

The food was great, and historical tours were just the right pace. We so enjoyed so much this, that we may do it again in two years, to China.

Having been on many large impersonal liners, but this was perfect with the intimacy of the 130 passengers. The 35 employees on board became like family.

It's like a floating hotel.

I have a feeling this well kept secret will not be a secret much longer.

What a wonderful experience. Read More...

We were on the River Ambassador, as the River Princess could not make it to Amsterdam in time for our sailing. River Duchess,

7/15/2013
We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the River Duchess from Amsterdam to Bucharest. One could not fault any aspect of the experience. Everyone from the deckhands up made sure we were treated like friends not paying guests. Every little detail from the addictive sweets/lollies / candies in the foyer, the refreshing towels and thirst quencher on return, meals, excursions and entertainment were first class. Special mention for our Cruise Director, Ramona - a delightful, personable, always happy and smiling and extremely knowledgeable asset to Uniworld. Will definitely be cruising again with Uniworld.

Perfect despite Flood Conditions,

June 23-June 30: Highlights of Eastern Europe Cruise. Fortunately, this River Empress sailing was a total success from first moment to the last farewell. Our original vessel, River Ambassador was unavailable due to the Danube flooding and closed locks. The considerate, well-informed, personable staff was attentive and responsive even though their schedules must have been overly-burdened by the flooding consequences of the three weeks. We were never inconvenienced; Hotel Manager Sabine Sprau is a sparkling professional. She lost a night of sleep when she refused to allow the Hungarian border patrol (Schengen)to muster us to face-check our passports. ... Read More...

SS Antoinette “Castles Along the Rhine”,

6/17/2013
In April my husband (both in our 60s) took our first ever river cruise. We chose Uniworld’s SS Antoinette (“Castles Along the Rhine”/Basel to Amsterdam/eight days-seven nights) as a result of a recommendation from AMEX travel folks…and we could not have been more pleased. Everything about the trip was excellent. From the moment we arrived on board, we were given first class-plus service. The staff who were always helpful, efficient, and friendly learned our names and likes/preferences within a day. Our cruise events director coordinated and organized all the excursions perfectly. Incredible Tour Guide, Amazing Trip!,

6/15/2013
My husband and I just retured from the May 10 - 24 trip to China, Tibet, and the Yangtze, and words cannot describe the experience! Above all, though, we feel this trip would not have been nearly as memorable if not for our fantastic tour guide, Hubert. His knowledge of Chinese history, caring nature, sense of humor, and willingness to constantly go above and beyond what was expected (he would always tell us he was on-call 24/7) made for an unmatched experience.

Before the trip was over, Hubert felt more like a family member than a tour guide. ... Read More...

Perhaps river cruising is somewhat a well-kept secret as we found very few reviews across multiple sites prior to our booking and our hope is that this review will introduce you to a new way of travel and/or influence your decision to experience UniWorld.

We are 40/50ish couple from Sonoma/Napa Valley with a passion for food, wine and sailing and while this was not our first Luxury Link (LL) purchase, it was our first cruise and organized tour of any kind. My husband and I have recently travelled from Beiging to Shanghai with Uniworld. Our tour guide "LI" was outstanding. We travelled on the Century Paragon along the Yanghtze, the ship was beautiful . This was my first cruise and I went by myself. I was somewhat concerned about that as I am a 70 yr. old female traveling alone. I wasn't sure how friendly people would be. The experience was great! People were friendly and welcoming from the start. Because there were only 129 guests it didn't seem crowded and overwhelming.

By the time we reached Frankfurt one of Iceland's volcanoes had erupted, air travel in Europe was at a standstill, and those of us who planned to fly home from there were stranded.

We just returned from the Grand Christmas New Years Cruise 2012/2013. Uniworld is to be complimented for taking lemons and making lemonade. Due to no fault of Uniworld, the extra rain and snow in the previous weeks prior to our cruise caused the Danube to flood and the Rivership Duchess was unable to travel further down the river from Regensberg. My mother taught me that "you have only one chance at a first impression". Uniworld understands this well. Our transfer at the airport was ready and on time. To keep the review short, I will deal succinctly with a few issues.

Given the travel investment involved we felt a 15 day cruise was not enough to justify the time and cost so chose to break the journey north with a two day/night stopover in Dubai. This year we were tempted no more and took the plunge. An airfare discount was part of the incentive and did the trick to get me to book “Castles on the Rhine” aboard Uniworld’s S.S. Antoinette.

Our expectations were exceeded for service, food, itinerary and atmosphere. Our only regret is our cabin was ... Read More...

European Serenade River Countess,

8/28/2011
We have just returned to the UK from our Vienna to Amsterdam cruise. We enjoyed it so much.

As very experienced river cruisers,....we first discovered river cruising in 2000!!... we have travelled with many cruise specialists. However, we have never experienced the level of service and quality food that we did on the River Countess. This is surely due to the professionalism of Hotel Manager Julie and her entire team. WE made some lovely friends and look forward to travelling with Uniworld again and regularly in the near future. They really could not have been better.

European Jewels with Uniworld,

8/22/2011

Hi there, just wanted to tell you what a wonderful holiday we had from May 21-June 7 of this year. Our Travel Agent Tom did all the bookings for us, we chose European Jewels with Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, it was fantastic, we flew Vancouver, B.C. Canada with KLM Airlines to Amsterdam, met by a Rep. from Uniworld & taken to our ship "The River Empress" where a lovely brunch/lunch was awaiting us. The Cruise Manager Monika, Hotel Manager Jerry all the Staff were so friendly, accommodating, everything was so well organized. Our Stateroom was great the Food that was ...

Every tour was so well organized with guides waiting for us, we were so surprised that between the two of us we took about 1500 photos, thanks goodness for digital cameras.

At the end of our trip we were asked to fill a survey, well what could we say we could not find one thing to complain about it was such a wonderful time for both of us. Thanks go out to all the Crew of the River Empress for being so outstanding we are now left with so many wonderful memories for Fantastic Trip along the Rhine, Main, Danube.

Imperial Capitals of Europe July 2011.,

8/16/2011
It has always been an ambition to see the Iron Gates of the Danube, and Vienna and Istanbul are two of our favourite cities, so when I saw the Imperial Capitals of Europe cruise advertised, we decided this might be the one for us. It was a decision we will never regret, that led to a memory which will remain with us for the rest of our lives. The whole experience was fantastic, from the home pickup to being delivered back after the cruise. I cannot find enough superlatives to describe the boat, the crew, the accommodation (although understandably a ... Read More...

Wonderful Cruise,

7/31/2011
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the River Countess in July 2011. The food was fabulous. We enjoyed trying new dishes. The fruit was plentiful and fresh. The sauces were wonderful. The meats cooked to perfection. The cruise director - Mirela Varga - was outstanding. She genuinely cared about each guest and did her utmost to accomodate every need. When an optional tour didn't have enough requests to be viable, she found a way for the interested people to get to the destination on their own. When we ... Read More...

Bastille Week Paris & Normandy,

7/28/2011
We have returned from an exquisite Paris-Normandy experience. Uniworld provided Route Marine transfer from CDG: Our driver, Fabrice from was a delight and full of information. We were fortunate to have him drive us for all transfers on the trip; we were his only passengers in a new luxury vehicle. From the moment we boarded the River Baroness, greeted personally by Hotel Director, Sebastian, we were charmed by his effortless efficiency, patience, and supervision.

Our suite, #215, was spacious and suitably, Napoleonic (1800-10) French decorated. The daily food plates, daily laundry service, complimentary Burgundy wine, in ...
We made wonderful new friends from New York City, Texas, Florida, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. A Rotary meeting was held, which my husband attended. Barbara, from Rouen via Roma, was our excursion guide for three guide adventures. She is zesty and zingy. Jean-Loius, a dancer, was our guide for Giverny. They were both the best we have known in our years of travels. All excursions satisfy intellectual curiosity as well as providing choices for robust activity, if one is inclined for maximizing adventures. We were docked in Rouen for Bastille Day and River Baroness gave us special treats and champagne, for our Sun/Stars Deck viewing of the Bastille Day Fireworks and Music show.

Special mention for the hotel cleaning and laundry staff. Standards are exceptional. Clean laundry was returned each day, after dinner.

Meals are beyond dreams: Martina directs a cordon bleu crew. Peter Struhar, executive chef, is visible in the dining room and a wonderful personality--ready to accommodate every request. His kitchen's ice creams are note-worthy! The al fresco experience, in the covered Sun Deck room, was unparalleled. We were at Captain's Table for Captain's Farewell Dinner. Captain Jacky Leclerc commands with a velvet personality. Best for last: Emmanuelle, Cruise Director, is a delight. She is the shining essence of everything we love about Uniworld.

The cruise was the most enjoyable holiday we have ever had,

7/8/2011
We recently enjoyed a wonderful 15 day cruise on the River Empress from Budapest to Amsterdam, which began on the 8th May.

The cruise was the most enjoyable holiday we have ever had.

The staff from the Captain down could not do enough to make everything run smoothly.

We would like to thank all the staff for such a pleasant trip. Could you please pass on our thanks to Captain Bot, Cruise Manager Monica and Hotel Manager Lucia.

We will certainly recommend Uniworld to our friends.

.....everything was first class the whole way!,

7/8/2011

Now that we are finally back and "sort of" in a routine again, we would like to take this time to thank your whole team for putting together such a wonderful, educational trip!!!  We were so happy with the Ship, River Duchess, AND her staff.....everything was first class the whole way!

I was particularly impressed with the way my allergy to garlic was handled, no cruise before has held a candle to the service your team provided!  Chef Orlando was most gracious, making all my food just as special as everyone else's, and I had not one problem the whole trip.  Thanks ...

We certainly hope the tips we left got to all the very deserving staff!

Looking forward to sailing down another river with Uniworld soon!  Thank you so much for making it such an exciting experience.

Sincerely

Multi-generational trip with our twin 11-year old girls and had a wonderful experience.,

7/6/2011
We just finished a multi-generational trip with our twin 11-year old girls and had a wonderful experience. They made friends on board and had a lot of fun on the guided tours. Having a designated "family" tour group was a wonderful idea. The tour guides had kid-friendly fun facts as well.

Although the kids did not start using the kids' room right away, it became their meeting place for fun - it was their "club" room.

As for our experience as parents - in one word, "pampered".

Thanks to the crew.

Hello

My husband and I just returned from a cruise on the River Empress from AMS/FRA.  It was probably one of the best vacations ever...and we'd go again...but for a longer trip.

We have been on many cruises..this was our first river cruise...I have to tell you that your Cruise Director, Rik, was the best we have ever dealt with.  He was great...never saw his roll his eyes with a sometimes difficult "older" crowd.  Luccia,. the Hotel Director, was also excellent.

I’ve sailed on big ships and one other river cruise which did spoil me, but this trip takes the CAKE,

5/12/2011

First, and far most, I want to THANK my Reservation lady, Annette Pesa for arranging a cake for my daughter’s birthday aboard ship the second night (happened to be the Captain’s Dinner at his Table).  The best present my daughter has ever had, so she said.  Outstanding, Annette, the presentation was great, cake was light and hit the spot.  Thank you, again, for all your hard work and time.  It was appreciated.

I’ve sailed on big ships and one other river cruise which did spoil ...

Our room was continuously clean and ready to accept us when we arrived.  I have to admit that on one occasion, bad me, I flooded the bathroom.  It was reported immediately and before we could get seated on the couch there was a knock on the door and before he could get to the bathroom door another knock on the door—it was a maintenance man with a water-vac to clean up.  Next thing we had four (4) men working to clean up my mess.  It seems the door got out of adjustment and that caused the mess.  It was fixed immediately.  I really couldn’t figure out why when prior nights I had no problem at all then all of a sudden it floods.  They had it cleaned up in no time.

Sorry, Annette, I just can’t think of all the great things to say about the SS Antoinette or her staff.  Just wish everyone I know could make their next trip on that boat, because they would never stop talking about it or the people.  I know they would enjoy it because you just can’t help it.  I’m already trying to see when my daughter finishes school, so I can book our next trip on one of your other boats.  I can honestly say, “ UNIWORLD” has me not wanting to go if your boats do not go to that particular place.

I did mention I had been on another river cruise prior to this and it was on the River Queen.  That ship did spoil me to doing another river cruise which to me is really the only way to travel.  You feel like a family traveling together not a bunch of strangers.  That trip was really good and special things did happen, people were fantastic and it was relaxing the way it should be.  Since I’ve been on that ship it has been completely updated and the pictures look great.  In fact, my daughter and I have been thinking about doing another one on her soon.

Thank you,

Ann Dowdy

I don’t think a lot about soap.  The cosmetic industry reports tens of billions of dollars in revenue, annually, and quite frankly, it is lost on me.  Give me a bar of zest, splash on a little Old Spice, and I am good to go.  This explains why I didn’t really get all that excited when my colleagues went on and on about how pampered I was going to be when embarking on my upcoming Uniworld River Cruise.  The company uses the L’Occitane product line of toiletries on their river boats.  Because of an arduous journey getting ...

My wife and I had the pleasure of a most relaxing week between Budapest and Passua in October 2010 on board River Beatrice. The ports and the ship have been described to death by previous guests, and I'd agree with all previous superlatives. But for us,the reason we chose Uniworld was that, as Australians, we wanted to be with fewer of our fellow countrymen than would have been the case if we'd travelled on an APT (Australian Pacific Tours)ship. Our cruise director even helped us by getting directions to Corrie ten Boom's house in Haarlem, that we wanted to visit while we were in Amsterdam. We highly recommend this cruise! Beyond our expectations,

4/1/2010
When one thinks of a “Boutique” hotel, what comes to mind is small, intimate, well appointed, service oriented hotel.  All that and more was our experience on Uniworld.  It was certainly beyond our expectations and the personal touches were like the old golden days of cruising.  From beginning to end, the warmth and efficiency of the staff permeated the ship.  No wonder they call themselves the Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection. I would not hesitate to put my most discerning clients on their ships.
Thank you for the fine adventure,

The GREATEST Trip!!!!,

3/15/2010
This was the first trip I took with Uniworld and it was great. I went on this trip alone and at no time did I feel alone at all. I was the youngest on the trip, in my mid 40's, but I met so many nice people and the guide was just amazing. His name was Ahmed Taher and was the best guide I have had. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. We all felt very safe and secure in everything that we did in Egypt. He also helped me get train tickets to ... Read More...

Tulips, Windmills, and A Whole Lot More,

1/31/2010
When people think of a European Adventure, Belgium and the Netherlands might not be the first two places that come to mind. However, the Tulips and Windmills tour could just change all that. It has everything you could want: architecture, artwork, and awe-inspiring beauty. My wife and I couldn’t have picked a better destination for our first trip across the pond, and here’s why: First and foremost, the crew and the ship, River Duchess, were wonderful. Our previous trip was to the Blue Danube River Cruise by way of Praha which was the most enchanting city. Our Hotel accommodations where the best ever. The Hotel was magnificent called the Imperial Place. We traveled by bus to the river where we boarded the River Boat. The towns, the cities were everything we had dreamed they would be. Our walking tours/bus tours completed the travels with excellent and personal guides. Now we are ready for our 2nd River Cruise to the Rhine River from Amsterdam to Basal by way of Zurich.

We completed our second trip with Uniworld in October-November 2009. Both Provence and the more recent trip to the Douro Valley were both extraordinary! Our third trip is already booked for China. In particular, I want to thank Uniworld for assisting me with special considerations I needed due to Celiac's Disease -- an extreme allergy to gluton. Travel -- even simple dining out -- can be a tremendous challenge for me. Thanks to the chef and staff, I had a wonderful dining experience every day! My mother and I just completed the 9-day "Castles Along the Rhine" river tour from Amsterdam to Basel (June 6 - 14), and I couldn't have been more pleased.

To begin, although I had traveled internationally, a river cruise vacation was entirely new to me.
