Hi there,
We are planning to travel from Frankfurt to Cologne to board the ship. Can you pls let me know which is the nearest train station I should stop in Cologne and where to board the ship at Cologne?
We are also taking the train from Basel to Chur after the cruise, we want to know where will the ship be docking in Basel. If we plan to look around town in Basel after the cruise and take a later train in the afternoon, can we leave the luggage on the ship and get them later when we catch the train?
Regards,
Bee

Hello,

Thank you for your post. Please find below the port address information for Cologne and Basel. Kindly note this information is subject to change.

Cologne: Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer,Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer, DE-50668

Basel: DreiländerEck, Westquaistrasse 61 CH-4057

The nearest train station to the docking port in Cologne would be the main station(Hauptbahnhof). In case you would like to deviate, the easiest way to find this information is via Google Maps. There is even an option to see which trains depart from each station if you are not sure.

Regarding, your disembarkation day and the question to leave your luggage onboard while you explore Basel, that is completely acceptable and you are welcomed to do so. Please advise your Cruise Manager you plan to do so just in case there is a specific time you will need to pick up your luggage. However, there should be no problem as the next cruise will be overnighting in Basel.

I hope this helps. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please feel freeto email communitymanager@uniworld.com

Best,
Katie (communitymanager)

Hello and thanks for your patience.
Below are the answers ot your questions.
• Is it possible to arrange for a Uniworld pick up at the us up at Cologne train station at Hauptbahnhof? We are a party of 6 with luggages.
You can arrange for a taxi to take you to the ship from the train station. Please bring the ship's phone number to confirm the location of the ship when you are in Europe.

• We there are 2 grandmas in my group, I need to know how easy for my group to do some local sighting before we leave Basel. At where Uniworld docked in Basel?
Possible docking locations (subject to change)
Steiger 3, Dreiländer Eck, Westquaistrasse 61 CH-4057 Basel, Switzerland

Steiger, Klybeck, Uferstrasse 90 CH-4057 Basel, Switzerland

• It is walking distance do some local sightseeing?
You'lll be able to visit the Munster Cathedral, Kunstmuseum, and Jean Tinguely Museum. Also, if you'd like to do some shopping while in Basel, you can visit Freiestrasse and Gerbergasse where you'll find craft and gift stores featuring music boxes, figurines, ceramics, linen dish towels, and wooden toys. You can also purchase Basel-made specialties such as embroidered silk ribbons and hand blown and hand painted ornaments; handmade Swiss lace and other embroidered goods. Don't forget to taste the chocolate and bring some home. Once you arrive, feel free to speak to the cruise manager for recommendations on where to go or places within walking distance from the ship.

• Do we need to take the train to go downtown?
The walking distance from the ship to to the city center is approximately 25 minutes if docked in St. Johann. If ship is docked in Dreilaendereck/Klybeck, the walking distance is up to one hour and taxi fare is approximately 15 euros. Please speak wtih the cruise manager with recommendations.

• How far is the train station from where Uniworld dock? The distance from the Basel rail station to the ship is approximately 20 minutes by taxi at around 20 euros.

• What time does most shops open in the morning at Basel and when does the Christmas market open in Basel? The Christmas markets are open from November 28 through December 23. Store hours are usually from Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6:30 pm and Saturdays, from 8 am to 4 pm. Some stores will close at around noon for an hour to two.
• Do shops open on Sunday morning? Most shops will not be open on Sunday morning. Please speak with our cruise manager on the ship for advice on any local shops that might be open on Sunday morning.

• Can you recommend any good watch shops in Basel? Sorry, we do not have recommendations. You might want to also ask the cruise manager for this information while in Basel or do some research online.

• For the optional tour in Lucerne, how much time do we have?
For the half day optional tour in Lucerne, you will be away from the ship for approximately six hours. During the excursion, you will take a walking tour of the old town, walk across the 14th century Chapel Bridge and Mill Bridge, Wein Square, Korn Markt Square, view the Town Hall from outside, and see Lion Monument. You'll have about 1.5 hours free time while in Lucerne to explore the Old Town to shop and visit the Christmas Market. Please be aware that information is subject to change and minimum participation is required to operate optional tours.
