Is there ships transportation to pick up passengers at the Basel train station on the day of embarkation in Basel and deliver us passengers to the Cologne rail station on the debarkation. Thanks

Hello,

Many apologizes for the delay in repspose. Thank you for your post. Unfortunately, Uniworld does not provide transporation to and from ration stations in Basel nor in Cologne.

The Basel rail station to the ship is approximately 20 minutes and would be about a 20 euro cab fare. On your crusie ticket, located within your cruise documents, will be the port address of the ship in Basel and Cologne. You can simply hand this cruise ticket to your cab driver and they will easily be able to locate the ship. You will receive cruise documents 3-5 weeks before your departure date. I recommend calling the ship upon your arrival (the number will be printed on your cruise ticket) to confirm the port address.

For your departure from the ship in Cologne, your Cruise Manager will be happy to assist you in coordinating a taxi cab transporation to the nearest rail station.

I hope this helps. Should you have any more questions or need additional informaton, please feel free to email me at communitymanager@uniworld.com

Thank you,
Katie (community manager)

Katie -

Is this a new policy? When we did this cruise with Uniworld in 2010, transportation WAS provided to/from the rail station. Unfortunately for us, we missed our connection in Frankfurt (think horrible storm in early December....) but the train station in Cologne was quite close to the boat - so a taxi was under 5 euros.

In Basel, I am sure that people were dropped off at the rail station instead of the airport.

Hi -

In Cologne, the train station is a very short ride via taxi. You could easily walk it (in fact, we walked by it on our tour the day after we arrived!!) - but our taxi fare was less than 5 euros.

I am surprised that Uniworld won't provide transport to the rail station on Cologne. They DO advertise that they do airport transfers as part of their package - and you won't get an easier transport than to the rail station in Cologne!!

Rail transport was offered when we did this cruise in 2010 - so am surprised they say it is not an option for you.
