Hi...4 of us from the Toronto Canada area are embarking on our first ever river cruise....anyone else going on that trip? Would love to chat with you if you are. We would also appreciate hearing from anyone that has done that cruise and their thoughts and recommendations. We are curious about the dress code for dinners too.

Dress for dinner was what I would call resort casual. My husband never wore a jacket but nicer slacks and a button down shirt. I wore slacks or a skirt and blouse very comfortable atmoshers

Another couple and ourselves are going on same cruise in June and are excited. We are from Kansas City and friends live in Kansas City and North Carolina. Will be looking forward to meeting the Canada group. Also interested what the weather will be end of June where we will be and want to be prepared. In K.C. that time of year usually getting fairly warm. Not sure Germany and surrounding areas get as warm.

We did this cruise in November, so weather conditions will be very different for you. What to wear seems to be the first questioned asked by first time cruisers. Comfort is the most important factor for all the day trips and tours. Dinners, neat and tidy. No shorts...ever in the dining room. No one will turn you away if you are not in a suit jacket and tie, but no one wants to see you in sweats and t-shirts, either. Remember Europeans are usually more conservative and yet fashion forward.
Laundry facilities are available on the River Queen as well as an iron and board, so pack light and fill your suitcase spaces with bubble wrap. (a stuffed firm suitcase has less chance of being damaged than one that can be pushed in )....then when you have things ....wine...to pack you have the bubble wrap ready!

wifi is available, but can be sketchy at times. Bring plug Adaptors if you need to charge things. Many newer electrical chargers have dual voltage built in, but you need the adaptor to fit the plug prongs into the plugs.

If you can, take a bicycle ride along the paved path in Strasbourg...no traffic to worry about. Drink some Kolsch beer in Cologne. Ride the aerial tram across the Rhine in Koblenz. Have a Rudesheim coffee in Rudesheim after yo take the aerial tram over the vineyards.

Have a wonderful trip !

Can you give any suggestions on optional tours worth taking or skipping. Are there any days to be sure not to miss as my husband wants to do a more intensive wine day on our own and we are trying to pick which day to skip with Uniworld (they all look too good) Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, We are neighbors of sorts. My husband and I live on Long Island. We too will be joining the June 25th cruise:) We have done large ship sailing for years and one river boat cruise on the St. Lawrence in Canada, but this is our first Uniworld cruise. Looking forward to meeting folks from all over the USA and Canada. Wonder where else folks will be coming from. You said you are going a few days earlier so we won't be flying transatlantic together as we are leaving the night before the cruise just in time to catch the cruise. I wish there was a service that would pack for me, it is always the most difficult part of traveling. Barbara and Al

We are leaving from JFK on June 22 and spending 2 nights in Amsterdam. We will be flying back to JFK right after the cruise but from Basel to CDG and then home. It's getting close now and we can't wait. Looking forward to meeting everyone . Jon and Faylynn
