Grand France: Storage in Cabin on River Queen

We are on the Sep 9 departure for the Legendary Rhine and Mosel cruise. This is our first cruise, and we are wondering what the closet and drawer space is like in the category 2 cabin on the River Queen. Do we need to bring extra hangers for a two-week cruise? Are there drawers for storage? Thanks in advance for any info.

We did this cruise 2 years ago on the River Queen in a Category 2 cabin. There are a few drawers and some shelf space in the closet. Your suitcases fit nicely under the bed. You don't spend a great deal of time in the room and they make great use of the space you have.
Have a great time!

Don't forget there are washers & dryers (2 of each) to use on the ship as well as an iron should the need arise.

Thanks for the quick response. Is there hanging space in the closet?

Not a great deal of closet space. It seems to me it was adequate, I did do laundry twice (we travelled 9 days before boarding) and I re-wore my faves. It's very relaxed, very casual and no one is going to whisper behind your back that you're wearing the same thing you wore last week!

That is really good to know. I think we can eliminate some of the items we have laid out to take. Did you/your husband take a jacket for the Welcome and Farewell dinners? My husband hates to "dress up" but I told him he MUST wear a jacket and tie for these two functions. It would be great if he could eliminate the jacket.
Thanks for your help.

He did not. A few men had jackets and ties, some had dress shirts and ties, most were smart casual. Long pants, nice shirts and blended in just fine. Since we have more suitcase space this time around and we're not schlepping across France & Italy on regional trains pre-cruise, he's tucking a dress shirt and a tie in his suitcase but I'm fairly certain he'll be jacketless again.

Thank you soooooooo much. You just made my/HIS day. We will eliminate the jacket. I am taking black slacks and dressy tops for the special occasions. We are so excited about this trip. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary (actually was in April when we were in Hawaii) and my 65th birthday. We decided to "do it while you can"!!! Have fun on your next trip and thank you for your insight on our upcoming cruise.

I'm glad! And a very happy birthday/anniversary to you! The River Queen staff (and ship) were top-notch. Saying goodbye at the end was like leaving a bunch of friends.
Enjoy.

Although we weren't on the River Queen, I'm presuming the closet layout is similar. The closets we had were split. so it was only half as long as the floor to ceiling (I can't remember if only one side was split and the other full, and we didn't take pictures of our closet.. You could fit quite a few clothes, however we discovered some of the hangers we brought in our bags were a little wider than the closet so the clothes would need to be a little diagonal for the closet doors to close. It's tight quarters, so don't take more than you need to.
