I was scheduled for a uniworld cruise through Gutsey Women Travel and due to an illness w/parent could not go. Was shocked to find out that no refund whatsoever was allowed. I did have travel insurance but apparently was a waste of money. Just a heads up for others! Will I recommend Uniworld----Not on your life.Renee Donner

not sure what your criticism is about- travel insurance is taken out for this very reason. Most travellers have the foresight to take insurance out - if you were to be given a refund in your circumstances I would ask for a refund for my insurance. The booking conditions are made very clear!

You can't blame Uniworld for this. it's your insurer's issue. Canceling late means the company could not secure another booking so would lose money. No cruise line would give such a refund. Our travel insurance covered cancelation due to sick loved ones.

Where in the world did you buy your travel insurance? Certainly doesn't sound like a Uniworld or any other cruise company policy. Even though they state this is a cancel at any reason policy, they have always been agreeable to giving a travel voucher for another cruise. Which we recieved on another cruise line. To return money is self defeating since they booked you on that cruise. If you purchased travel insurance elsewhere, we have seen the return of all of our funds. Your choice on where you get your insurance. It is probably the most expensive part of your trip, but well worth it when needed. Never buy anthing you don't understand .If you didn't purchase insurance, it clearly states in the brochure you get no refund if cancelled within 30 days.If you did purchase find out how you go about getting your funds. It may require filling out forms. Your complaint is with who ever you booked your cruise and the travel insurance policy company, not Uniworld.

think you may have got the message- not much sympathy as you took the chance to book without insurance!! Always read the conditions before booking.
