Castles along the Rhine: which choices?

Hi, There are a few stops along the way that offer a choice of excursions...at Breisach, Strasbourg with a optional excursion to the black forest, and at Speyer.....Anyone have any thoughts on the choices??Sure they are all excellent but the more info, the better.
thanks
Rick

I read earlier that someone recommended the vinegar tasting but she felt the Black Forest was a lot of riding in the bus. I don't know from my experience but I think I will follow her advice.

A bit confusing..the Black Forest is an optional [/u]excursion after the Strabourg day. That day has choice of eitherthe canals OR the walking tour.
The other choices includeBreisach (day 2) with either the alstian wine tour OR Colmar city tour.
Day 4 in Speyer has the choices of either the walking tour OR the vinegar tasting.

lots of choices...any suggestions?
thanks
Rick

There is an excellent review of the tours of this cruise on Cruise Critic River cruise forum. It is titled "Uniworld SS Antoinette - Basal to Amsterdam 3/30/2014 on tape delay". There are many pictures of all the tours each day.

According to this posting there are 3 optional tours: Marksburg Castle, Heidleberg, and Blackforest. These are in addition to the tour choices included each day and appear to be afternoon tours. I am going on this cruise July 13-20. I have decided for certain to take the first two but still considering the Black Forest. The review I've found on all three have been very good and worth the additional expense.

I booked this cruise over a year ago and have consistently searched review sites and forums for information. The review I referenced above by far was the most informative. I hope you find it helpful.

When you google Cruise Critic Forums there will be a choice for River Cruises. Once in River Cruises you will have to scroll down past the announcements to the threads. Currently the thread I mentioned is about the fourth one. I'm on my IPad and not sure how to copy and paste. If you can't find it let me know and I will get to a PC and copy and paste the link, Just avoid going into the River Cruise Port link or the roll call link. It will not show up there, It is strictly under the River Cruise link. It is confusing.

Also, have you downloaded a copy of the cruise companion guide from his site? In the companion guide it has a pretty detailed itinerary for each day which includes the days for the optional tours. I think they mail a hard copy of this to us 30-45 days prior to the cruise but I found your can download a copy under the "connect" link on the Uniworld site. If memory serves the review I've mentioned says the optional tours are 40 or 50 Euros each. Not too bad.
