For those travelers who book their own "pre cruise" accommodations and have to check out in the early AM on the day of embarking, is there a way they can take their luggage to the ship, say about 10:30AM, and drop it off for storage while they do some more touring in the embarkation city before returning in the afternoon at the "official boarding time?"

Hello,

Thank you for your question. On the day of embarkation, you will be transferred from your "pre-cruise" accommodations to the ship port location. Once you arrive on the ship, you may store your luggage on board until your stateroom is ready. At that time, you are more than welcome to take some free time and explore the city on your own. Your cruise manager will be happy to assist you and let you know what the official boarding time is for your return back to the ship as well as provide any directional assistance you may need.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you,
Katie

Thanks for the info... but I won't have any Uniworld Transfers because I'm not coming in on a flight that day (We're spending three days in Budapest on our own before the cruise). And I'm also not on a Uniworld Pre Cruise package. Therefore my agent said "no transfers." In that case can we just show up at the ship with our bags and they will still store them for us? (Even though Uniworld is not "transfering us there" with their transfer ticket?)

Hello,

My apologies, I was under the assumption you had booked your "pre-cruise" accommodations with Uniworld. It was my mistake and unfortunately we are unable to transfer you if you have made private arrangements and hotel accommodations. However, on your embarkation day you are still more than welcome to make you own way to ship and deposit your luggage on board for storage until your stateroom is ready. At that time, you can take some time to explore the port city on your own. Be sure to inquire with your cruise manager what time you should be back on the ship.

Hopefully that provides more clarification for you. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you,
Katie

Have your travel agent call Uniworld to ask what they can do. Maybe if you can get to the airport at the same time as an incoming flight, you can take the shuttle to the ship.

The ship will be about 1/2 mile from our B&B in Budapest the day we need to board it. At "Budai also rakpart" on the Buda side of the river, and we're staying at "Bellevue B&B" right nearby in Buda.
The airport is about 12 miles out of town, I think...

To use the free Uniworld transfer, we'd have to pay our own way for about a 1/2 hour in a taxi with our luggage to get to the airport and then wait for the Uniworld "free" tranfer, than then travel back to where we basically started!

Doesn't seem to make the "free transfer" worthwhile...
