Booked cruise for Aug 2014....then looked at air provided by Uniworld. The flight would not get to destination in time to get on boat. Researched other flights and submitted itinerary to Custom Air Services at Uniworld.
They came back with same flights I suggested, but an increase in airfare of $900 USD! WOW! Not doing that for sure....and have a new opinion on Uniworld in general and it is not good.

I had the very same experience. My Wife and I are booked on a Grand France cruise in Sept. I picked a schedule on line with Delta that looked very good. I asked for a quote from Uniworld for the very same flight schedule thinking they would have a better deal. To my surprise Uniworld quoted 2278.00 higher. I will have to buy insurance on the tickets since Uniworld will not cover them with the trip insurance I already paid for so the difference will be less than that.

Uniworld is a great company to cruise with, but they're not a full-service travel agency. We've never had them do our flights or our travel insurance. We make our air arrangements and travel insurance through our travel agent (AAA). Uniworld still provides transfers to/from the airport, even when you make your own travel arrangements. I like being at least a little in control of our times, layovers, etc.

...I found that out the hard way!
On our previous cruises with Uniworld we made our own flight reservations and used our travel agent's (AAA) trip insurance. The insurance was a bit more expensive, but our flights worked out great.
For our third trip we thought we'd just do it all through Uniworld....a mistake for sure.
The way Uniworld handled this issue has caused us to cancel our trip, and any future cruises as well. There are a number of other cruise companies to pick from. Too bad 'cause we really liked our previous Uniworld cruises....sigh.
