Has anyone done the tours offered by Uniworld?. Is it adviseable to book their upgraded tour or to do something on your own or with other shipmates. I have read, the published dress suggestions, but to previous sailers, what should I expect? this is our first sailing with Uniworld. Any suggestions to enhance our trip would be greatly appreciated. We are spending three nights in Paris on our own. It's probably ten years since we've been to Paris. Any restaurant suggestions?

We did the 2 weeks from Amsterdam to Budapest last fall and suggest you do all optional tours with the ship-------it's to hard to try to organize something by yourself........and these cruises are a lot more casual and low keyed than you expect.......I wore a sport coat with an open shirt for the captains dinner & took it off as soon as I sat down--

the Royale is a lovely ship. Uniworld includes so much in the daily activities, I don't think there was much time to organize any other tours. Dress is neat and presentable. No need to get worked up about clothing and what to wear to dinner. You're on vacation !
Everyone will have their own 'vox box' which is a hearing device used b y the guides. the guide speaks into a mic and you will have the rec iever device to hang around your neck with an earpiece that goes over your ear. that way you can hear what is being said without having to crowd around the guide. and you can wander off a bit to look at things while still being able to hear...especially nice when you want to do a bit of window shopping but still get the history of the town or village you might be in.

the cabins are cozy and very functional. lots of places to stash stuff. your suitcase fits under the bed out of the way. each cabin has it's own temperature control.

crew on all the Uniworld ships we have been on have been amazing. friendly, always helpful. wifi is sketchy because of satellite reception, but you will be on vacation so don't stree it.

enjoy the cruise !
