I just booked the Tupis and Windmills cruise (yippie!!). The cruise ends in Antwerp, what is the earliest I should plan my flight home from the Brussels Airport?

Hello!

Congratulations on booking your Uniworld cruise. We are very excited to have you as a passenger! For your departure flight out of Brussels, please follow the Uniworld transfer guidelines. The guideline states on the day your cruise/tour package ends, please arrange your flight to be anytime between 6 am- 6pm, in order to receive the complimentary transfer from the ship to the airport.

For your reference the transfer guideline is below as well as online and in the back of the brochure (Terms and Conditions page).

Making Your Own Flight Arrangements: Should you elect to make your own flight arrangements, Uniworld will provide complimentary scheduled group transfers to/from the ship/hotel as long as your flights arrive/depart in the cruise/tour starting/ending cities in accordance with the dates shown in this brochure and your flight arrangements comply with the Transfer Guidelines as shown below. If your flight arrangements arrive/depart outside of these parameters, you must make your own transfer arrangements. Please ask your travel consultant for appropriate costs during the reservation process. Uniworld will not be responsible for late arrivals or missed transfers due to delayed or cancelled flights, for missed cruise/trip days, or for extra costs resulting from the foregoing. To qualify for transfers, it is required that flight information and pre-trip arrangements for all passengers making their own flight arrangements be given to Uniworld no later than forty-five (45) days prior to departure and conform to the following Transfer Guidelines:

Thank you. On a similar subject I assumed if I flew into the cruise start city (in this case Amsterdam) the day before my cruise departs and provide the flight information to you that I could still use the transfer on the departure day. For example I was thinking of flying in the day before to get acclimated to the time change and stay at the Amsterdam airport overnight and meet the transfer in the morning. I may have misunderstood the transfer policy as noted in the literature. Is this possible?

Unfortunately, no it is not possible. Per our transfer guidelines, the complimentary transfer on the day of arrival to the ship, in your case in Amsterdam, is only offered on the day your cruise/tour package begins. Unlike hotel and other cruise shuttles that are hourly and leave you waiting outside with all your luggage for transportation, Uniworld's transfer services are tailored to your specific flight schedule. There will be Uniworld representative waiting at your specific gateway/baggage claim area at the time your flight is scheduled to arrive on the day your package begins. In order to receive a complimentary transfer, our reservation/guest services staff needs to have valid flight schedule that will be arriving the day your cruise/tour package begins and falls within the transfer guideline timeframe.

If your main concern about arriving on the day the cruise/tour package begins is in reference to getting acclimated to the time zone change, I would not be too concerned. The first day of your cruise package is meant for you to become acclimated to the area and we do not typically schedule any tours or excursions on this day, which offers you plenty of time to rest. Also, for the Tulips & Windmills itinerary, you will over night in Amsterdam on the first day of the tour/cruise package. Should your flight be delayed for some reason, you will still be able to get to the ship port on-time and not miss any scheduled excursions. This also gives you a little bit more time to rest and adjust to the area.

Should you need further assistance or have additional questions regarding transfer guidelines, please email our Guest Support or Guest Relations team at any of the following addresses: [color=black]Info@uniworld.com , Ask an Expert@uniworld.com or customerservice@uniworld.com.

Hope that helps!

Indeed, we tried to do the same thing, and Uniworld was adamant that they would not provide transportation. I cannot understand why they so unyielding about this, as clearly if you are there the day before you are perfectly capable of meeting them at any time anywhere at the airport outside the security area, but they refused all of our attempts, so we are ending up taking a train and taxi to the boat. Oh well, it seems most other things are done very well by Uniworld so we are looking forward to finding out if we agree!!

We are going in October on the Castles on Rhine. The pre cruise extension to Lucerne states ALL TRANSFERSis stated in the UNIWORLD catolog. Does this include arrival at Basel and transfer to Lucerne and then to the ship after our 3 day stay?

Hello,

Thank you for your post. If you have purchased the pre-cruise extension program in Lucerne for the "Castles Along the Rhine itinerary", a complimentary transfer from the airport is provided the day your pre-cruise extension program begins. The transfer will pick up at the Basel airport, take you to your hotel in Lucerne and then to the ship at its docking location to begin the "Castles Along the Rhine" itinerary.

Hopefully this provides some clarification. Should you have additional questions, please feel free to email customerservice@uniworld.com.

Best,
Katie (community manager)
